A memo board is a very useful and functional piece of decor. You can buy an already finished board, but you can also make a unique one yourself. See some inspirations below.

The memo board can be practical for younger and older people. It will come in handy for school-age children to systematize knowledge, write down the most important things or attach photographs and other memorabilia. In the era of coronavirus and increasingly frequent remote working, it can also make life easier for working people. Apart from functional reasons, a whiteboard can decorate your room. You only need a few things to create it.

Whiteboards for notes

Material whiteboard

A fashionable organizer that can look completely different depending on the interior. It all depends on what fabrics and textures you choose.

You need:

• a frame,
• the outer fabric,
• a double layer of insulation 1 cm thick or more,
• backing fabric,
• ribbon,
• buttons,
• upholstery stapler,

• scissors,
• needle,
• thread.

1. Lay the wooden frame in the center of the backing fabric. Fold up the first edge, wrap over the frame, and attach in two places with a stapler. Use this method with each edge
2. Trim the corners of the fabric at the frame and attach with a staple gun
3. Place the fabric on the table, decorative side down. Place the fleece in the middle of it.
4. Wrap the first edge of the decorative fabric and attach it to the frame in three places with a staple gun. Repeat at each edge.
5. Wrap the fabric around the corner of the frame and attach approximately in the middle. Do the same with the other corners until the board is neatly covered with decorative fabric.
6. You can tie the ribbon diagonally or crosswise for decoration
7. You can also sew buttons along the frame for decorative purposes.
8. Use pins or pins to attach cards

Corkboard

This is probably the most familiar type of whiteboard, available at any stationery store. By adding some elements and colors, you can create something original.

You will need:

• mDF board,
• acrylic paints in 3 colors,
• paper painter’s tape,
• a paint roller,
• wooden clips
• wood glue or hot glue.

1. Using the painter’s tape, arrange your pattern on the board. These can be asymmetrical patterns or a grid
2. Paint any areas with different colors.
3. Apply the next color as soon as the previous color dries.
4. Glue the clips together.
5. When the glue is dry, you can attach photos or notes.

Pinhole board

A simple but easy to use way to organize important information. You can attach many things to the panel, not only post-it notes but also heavier things like a clock and a container. There are ready-made boards in building stores, unfortunately they are expensive and not available everywhere. However, there is an alternative: at a cheaper cost you can make one yourself.

Prepare:

• 5mm thick dicta or plywood,
• a piece of paper with a grid,
• colored pencil or pencil,
• a drill bit matched to the diameter of the dowels,
• screwdriver,
• painter’s tape,
• sandpaper.

1. On a piece of paper, use a pencil to mark dots every 6 grids, or about 3 cm
2. Using painter’s tape, stick the paper template to one of the corners of the cardboard.
3. Punch holes in the paper at the previously marked points with the blade of a drill, and then correct each hole with a pencil for better visibility.
4. Then peel off the template and stick the piece further on, so that the first line of holes coincides with the last line of the previous piece. Repeat this process until you have punched holes in all the dicta
5. Drill each marked point
6. Clean the whole thing and sand with sandpaper for an even surface
7. Paint the board with the color of your choice and protect it with clear varnish
8. When mounting, make sure it does not stick to the wall. The whole system is about inserting the pegs in the first place, there must be room for them.
